2024 is our year! At HIAA we are anticipating more co-operations with neighboring organizations, as well as more opportunities for our artist members to connect and learn within our community.

HIAA Member’s opportunity at Creative Alchemy

🔑 Host your solo or group one-month exhibition with a fee 200-300€ (including time for private screenings and events (approx. 50-60h).

🔑 Host an individual event/workshop with the fee 15€/h (min. 3h) or 5€ per participant whichever is more cost-efficient for the workshop host. The workshops can be held on weekdays or weekends.

(All prices are not including VAT, 24% VAT will be applied when invoiced.)

HIAA FEST x CREATIVES SHOWCASE

HIAA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH STARTUP REFUGEES

📍 Helsinki City Museum, Aleksanterinkatu 16-18, Helsinki

HIAA Fest x Creatives Showcase is coming to the Helsinki City Museum from November 7th to 10th, 2024! Join us for an exciting group exhibition featuring talented members from the Helsinki International Artists’ Association, with a special opening event on November 7th at 17:00. Expect live performances, an art lottery, and a chance to mingle with the artists!


On Friday and Saturday, Startup Refugees will host a Pop-Up Market and Portfolio Previews. On the weekend, you can participate in family-friendly workshops. This is a free event and open to the public – don't miss out and join us!

WORKSHOP: CREATE DYNAMIC CHARACTERS

HIAA FEST 2024 WORKSHOP EVENT - ALYSIA MENTULA

📍 Helsinki City Museum, Aleksanterinkatu 16-18, Helsinki

NOVEMBER 10TH, 2024 13:00-14:45

FREE  /  ALL AGES  /  MAX 15 PARTICIPANTS, SIGNUP REQUIRED (BELOW)

Combine myth, folklore, fiction and form as tools to illustrate a character!. Participants will create a totally new creature or character based on a few clues and detail-descriptions. Learn how shape informs a character illustration, and the importance of dynamic movement in narrative storytelling.

Stay after the creative section of the workshop (13-14:00) to talk about the process of working with authors in a collaborative sense, covering topics of questions, subject, worldbuilding and project outline (14-14:45)

For especially young participants (6-12), the workshop will accommodate pre-imagined illustration puzzle pieces to use in creating an exciting new character. Children under 6 welcomed while supervised by an adult.

The theme "Northern Crossroads" for our upcoming group exhibition encapsulates the convergence of diverse cultural, artistic, and geographical influences that define the unique artistic landscape of the northern regions. This theme invites artists to explore intersections where various paths meet—whether through the melding of traditional and contemporary styles, the fusion of local and international perspectives, or the dialogue between nature and urban life. Artists are encouraged to interpret "Northern Crossroads" in ways that reflect their personal journeys and experiences, highlighting how their work bridges different worlds and fosters new connections. This theme serves as an open invitation for participants to delve into the rich tapestry of narratives and identities that thrive at these crossroads, ultimately enriching the collective understanding of what it means to create art in this dynamic and multifaceted region.

🔶 What is an Art Swap?

In the spirit of community and sustainability, our Art Swap will feature a variety of different artists and craft people who are attending on the basis of swapping unused or un-needed supplies for something that could be made useful! We ask that if you do wish to leave with something, that you'll need to contribute an item.

🔷 Who can attend?
All are welcome! This is a free and open event. Please be sure to mark your interest or attendance in the event, in order for HIAA to plan for snacks and space accommodation.

🥐 Will there be snacks?
There will be snacks, great company, and always interesting and engaging discussion!
